Our friend Richard Faubel passed away on May 4th, 2024.
The morning he transitioned from a coma to whatever comes next, he heard
a Buddhist poem, a playlist of favourite songs, and expressions of love
and thanks from Victoria, his partner of 31 years. He left this world
to Pink Floyd's "Echoes" (before the spooky part).
In keeping with his generous nature, he donated some of his own "parts",
giving the gift of life to three people and of sight to a fourth.
To send a message, story or photo for Victoria's memory book, or email vjf (at) telus (dot) net.
Your moments are not tears in rain, but rather footprints in the sands
of time, and in our lives. Love and good luck through your never-ending
journey on the edge of time.
What I Do
AMPLIFIED electronics specialized in tube and solid state guitar and
bass amps, providing repairs, tune-ups, re-tubing, and restorations. Another
passion is guitar pedals, because I know that nothing is as satisfying as
matching a great amp with killer effects.
I also repair:
• power amps like US-made QSC, Yorkville, Bryston, Japanese-made
Yamaha, UK-made HH
• powered monitors like Mackie SRM450's (NOT V2 or V3), Yorkville,
US-made JBL Eons
• studio monitors like US-made Mackie, Genelecs, Tannoys
• mixers like US-made Mackie, Japanese-made Yamaha, MIDAS
• effects processors that are Japanese-, US-, UK-, or German-made.
I think you get the picture: I will gladly repair anything that was built
to be repaired.
What I DON'T Do
I DON'T work on gear designed to fail the day after the warranty
expires.
I DON'T accept shipped items at this time, only items walked into
the shop.
I love the work I do. I've been fascinated by electricity ever since
getting a brain-rattling shock when I stuck my finger in a Christmas tree
light socket when I was seven years old. I took apart the family TV at eleven,
and built my first AM radio at twelve.
When I was thirteen, the second piece of the puzzle fell into place.
My buddy's older brother, a DJ, had an INCREDIBLE stereo, and he played
me a record that forever changed my life. After hearing the first minute
of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, I knew I wanted to combine my passions
for electronics and music.
I've worked as engineer and technician at studios in Toronto and Vancouver,
and done quality control for an amp manufacturer. I ran the service department
at Backline Musician Services for almost 20 years, and did over 35,000 repairs.
With my own company, AMPLIFIED electronics, I focused on the gear I
love: guitar amps, bass amps, pedals, power amps, and well-made mixers and
processors.
Thank you for allowing me to take care of the gear you love all
these years.
